Ten year old Julia was diagnosed at the age of 3 months with Hypoxicischmic Encephalopathy (HIE), brain injury caused by oxygen deprivation to the brain.  Resulting diagnoses for her include cerebral palsy, expressive language delay, cystic periventricular leukomalacia (white matter brain injury), seizure disorder, sleep disorder, and laryngomalacia to name a few.

Julia begins each day by getting out of her safety bed and trying to get into the closet where the cereal and other goodies are kept.  She likes to watch television and movies, taking rides in the van, being free of her wheelchair, horseback riding, and swimming.  She also loves to listen to all kinds of music and dancing with anyone around her that she can grab onto.  And that smile…so contagious!

Julia has wanted a bike for a while now and riding will help her strengthen her legs and hips and help her to be out of her wheelchair more.
