Nine year old Mario has an amazing sense of humor and a very quick wit. He is very determined and does not let his Cerebral Palsy (CP) stop him from doing anything. He loves all sports but football is his favorite! Mario’s knowledge of sports is extensive and he loves sports trivia. Mario plays flag football, wrestling, and is starting golf lessons. When he’s not busy playing sports, he loves to play Xbox.
Mario was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at the age of 13 months. Due to a traumatic delivery, the doctors had expected he would have some degree of CP. When Mario was 5, he had surgery on his legs. He is much more fluid when he walks but continuously works on strength to improve his gait. Mario was also diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 3 and doctors are still working to find the best medicine for him.
Cincinnati Children’s has a 5 week intensive robotic therapy program which would help Mario’s gait pattern and reinforce the strength and muscle memory in his right foot. His family will have to drive into Cincinnati each Sunday and stay through Thursday in order for him to participate. The request is for displacement costs of hotel, gas, and food for their travel and stay.
