In 2017, Ruby was diagnosed with a rare genetic disorder, called spinocerebellar ataxia, type 29. It has impacted Ruby's speech, as well as her fine and gross motor development. After trialing a rocking stander which was uniquely qualified to meet her balance and motor needs, we were fortunate enough to receive one with the help of Building Blocks. Ruby has used her stander every day for the past 3 years, and we are hopeful it will be a fundamental stepping stone in her ability to stand and walk independently one day.
