I’ve worked in healthcare from 1971 to 2024, including being a US Amy medic from 1973 to 1980.  Suicide is one of the more distressing events that has found its way to me repeatedly.  Veteran suicide especially hurts, because these people have answered their nation’s call to serve, and some of them are then directed into intolerable environments.  All manner of physical and mental aliments result.  I’m climbing Mt. Baldy with other veterans on Veterans Day weekend to raise funds for a veteran retreat center to be built on Mt. Baldy.  This welcoming and safe environment where understanding, welcoming, activity and rest combine, will promote healthful coping and healing.  I’m asking for your support.  Thank you.
