Brandon and Jeremy were officially diagnosed with Juvenile Batten Disease(CLN3) in 2006 at the age of 8 and 5. This rare genetic brain disorder causes progressively worsening symptoms that usually start with trouble seeing and eventually blindness. Other symptoms include seizures, behavioral problems, muscle deterioration, trouble, swallowing, loss of bladder and fecal control, hallucinations and shutting down of the gastrointestinal system. There is no cure at this time. Brandon and Jeremy passed away in 2021 and 2022 respectively. They did their best to enjoy life to the fullest while they could. Favorite things were Power Rangers, Beyblades, Band(we need more cowbell), Harry Potter, Sponge Bob, Yu Gi Oh and just about any animated movie. Brandon loved to listen to audio books and Elvis Presley. Jeremy enjoyed Carolina Panthers football and listening to Michael Jackson and Justin Bieber. They both had tremendous senses of humor despite the brutal conditions they faced. They were the strongest and bravest humans that I personally have ever known.

This disorder changes the lives of everyone in the household and surrounding community. Depending on where you live there can be little to no resources available to help with things like equipment, home modifications, vehicle modifications, nursing support and respite services. This is why our FamFund chooses Family Support specifically for our donations.
