I’m so excited to be paddling again in the 7th Annual SoundWaters Flotilla on July 15th to help protect Long Island Sound through Climate Science education for over 32,000 students - regardless of their ability to pay! Click here to learn more about the many current SoundWaters programs that use Long Island Sound to teach young people the science of a healthy environment while building stronger, more resilient communities in the future.
This year, I’m doing something special and dedicating my Flotilla fundraising efforts to a Young Mariners Scholarship Fund, in memory of dad, Melvin Stern, a mariner who was always happy being on and by the water. Dad would have loved this Soundwaters program for young people to grow life, boating and career skills while learning about and protecting the Sound! And he'd be thrilled to see the waterfront lifestyle that he envisioned and I now get to enjoy daily, all developed in the 20 years (!) since he passed.
If you love the Sound and nature the way I do, then you know we can all do our part to protect it, but by paddling in the Flotilla I am helping SoundWaters do a whole lot more: The 32,000 kids they teach this year will be the stewards of the Sound tomorrow.
I hope you can make a donation to join this cause and support my paddle. Now more than ever, we need to act to protect our environment.
Thanks so much for your participation!
Love, Deborah
