Two-year-old Easton was 5 months old when he got sick with bacterial meningitis. He was in the hospital recovering for two weeks.  The meningitis caused Easton to become deaf and at 7 months, he had cochlear implant surgery. Then when he was 17 months old, he had a bacterial infection called Ecthyma Gangrenosum.

Doctors then ran tests on his blood and discovered that his bacterial infections were due to his white blood not being able to produce the B-cells which fight off bacterial infections and diseases.  He now receives an IVIG infusion once per month.

Easton enjoys playing with his big brother and his dog, Coco.  He loves watching Cocomelon and tries to sing along.  He is trying very hard to talk.  Easton is hitting all of his developmental milestones and is not letting his diagnoses slow him down.

Easton’s parents would like for him to learn to listen and talk. Ohio Valley Voices is an oral school for the deaf that will teach him to access and decipher the sounds he hears through his hearing aids and his cochlear implants and will allow him to mainstream into his typical neighborhood school by the time he reaches 3rd grade.
