Sixteen year old Leah likes animals, electronics, food and art. She was adopted from a Chinese orphanage at 14 months of age where she was abandoned at birth and was suffering from malnutrition and physical neglect such as bonding which is needed for normal brain growth and development.
As a result of this neglect, she suffers from a condition known as Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD) which is a mental illness resulting in anxiety, poor social relationships and impulsive behavior. In order to help her cope with these challenges, she requires ongoing individual counseling sessions, specialty physician visits, medication adjustments, and multiple hospitalizations.
Leah needs assistance with ongoing therapy, medication, and hospitalization costs.
