Seventeen year old Rachel likes school and is on the bowling team. She loves musicals and is in the spring musical at her school. Rachel dances in the Greek Festival during the summer and she is very involved in her church too.
Rachel was born with Down Syndrome and her secondary diagnoses include sleep apnea, language impairment and mixed receptive-language disorder. She needs independent living skills so she can communicate and learn to speak up. She generally uses inappropriate phrases and sometimes she doesn’t make sense because she can’t find the right words.
Rachel needs speech and psychological therapy to help with socialization, speaking up for herself, giving her appropriate words and phrases so she makes sense, and overall helps to build her independent living skills.
