Thirteen year old Brendan was born with a redundant looping mega colon and mega rectum and is challenged with daily GI and bowel concerns. He also has Ehler’s Danlos Syndrome (a group of inherited disorders that affect your connective tissues) and Mast Cell Activation Disorder (an immunological condition in which mast cells inappropriately and excessively release chemical mediators, resulting in a range of chronic symptoms, sometimes including anaphylaxis or near-anaphylaxis attacks).
Brendan’s brother also has many of the same challenges and due to their severity, doctors in Texas sent them to Cincinnati Children’s for treatment in the GI, Colo Rectal, Immunology and Ehler’s Danlos Clinics here. Because of all of the struggles both boys have, they must travel to Cincinnati 4-6 times each year and have already been here 5 times in 2017.
Brendan is a straight A honor student and a Presidents Eagle Excellence Scholar. He has been in Boy Scouts for 6 years. He is also involved in 4H clubs doing chickens and gardening. He enjoys cooking farm to table and does competitive cooking competitions in his local area.
Brendan’s family is asking for assistance with expenses related to his travel to Cincinnati.
