Three year old Ruby is a pleasant, happy, easy going little girl. She likes to play with her toys and books and she really enjoys music. Ruby watches Doc McStuffins and PJ Masks.
Ruby was born with Spinocerebellar Ataxia 29 but not diagnosed until she was approximately 2½ years old. She has a lot of difficulty with maintaining balance and deals with a speech delay.
Ruby is unable to stand on her own. She requires two hands for support to walk and she falls over when sitting. She is starting to crawl with her belly off the floor about 50% of the time and has difficulty eating with a utensil.
Currently, Ruby goes to physical, occupational, and speech therapy twice per week.
With help, Ruby can be mobile using a wheelchair (for sitting), a gait trainer and a standing frame. Her support team is hopeful that other agencies will cover two of those pieces of equipment and is asking that BB4K help with the third piece.
