As a supporter of The Max Foundation (Max), I believe that access to medicine is a human right.

This September, I will be joining my longtime friend and mentor, Pat Garcia-Gonzalez, CEO of the Max Foundation, for her 2026 Max Global Experience to Malaysia and the Philippines. I'm using this trip as an opportunity to raise funds for Max. Will you join me in making a gift to The Max Foundation today? 

I don't often get the chance to engage directly with issues of global health, but I've stayed close to Pat and The Max Foundation since early in my career, when I helped bring ponatinib into Max's portfolio of medicines for patients in low- and middle-income countries. In the years since, Max has remained, to me, one of the most compelling access models I've seen, and I've long believed it's just as well-suited for rare disease as it is to cancer. This trip is my chance to finally see that work firsthand.

The Max Foundation is a global health nonprofit that is dedicated to accelerating health equity, one patient at a time. They do this by delivering medicine, diagnostic technology, and supportive health services to more than 40,000 individuals annually in over 80 low- and middle-income countries. Since its inception, Max has reached over 100,000 patients worldwide and has made a recent commitment to reach 100,000 patients every year by 2031. Patients are supported at no cost to themselves, and for as long as they need.

On this trip, I'll be hosted by local staff as we meet with patients, advocates, and healthcare providers whose lives are being transformed by access to proper medical care. My goal is to raise $5,000 to ensure people facing illness, no matter where they live, receive the treatment they deserve.
