A native of Alamance County, Chris is married to Susanne Fuqua Rhodes (EC teacher at Walter M. Williams High School). They have two sons, William Ladd "Will" (attends Elon University) and Samuel James "Sam" (attends North Carolina State University).

Chris is extremely active in serving his community. Some of his previous endeavors include serving on the board of the Alamance Business Club, which assists children with special needs; serving as Director of the Northern Alamance Athletic Club (which provides financial support to various sports programs for the youth of Alamance County); and serving as the President of the Williams High School Athletics Booster Club from 2021-2024.
