Hello!
This week is one I look forward to every year!
I’m inviting you to join me another year as I participate in CharityEngine Foundation's Annual 10K Walk/Run which takes place during Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week.
Every day this week, I have joined other advocates by sharing stories and facts to help raise funds and bring awareness to food insecurity experienced by those living in poverty.
Feeding America estimates that the food insecurity rate for children in our county will now be 18% -- that is almost 10,000 children! The number of children in my community who go to bed without food is astounding, and part of our mission is to raise awareness and funds to assist in providing meals and bridging the gap.
I would be honored if you would join me for this great cause and support the CharityEngine Foundation by making a donation to my campaign.
Here are a few ways this campaign helps address this need:
- EmpowerMeals: This will be our third year of the EmpowerMeals Project. This project provides food and meal planning for children and families in our community during the week of Spring Break when children miss out on the breakfast and lunch provided by their schools. This ensures that these children will receive healthy and nutritious foods during this time. In our first year, where Spring Break ended up being the beginning of a very long break from school due to COVID-19, we served 15,540 meals, and we will continue to grow that number! The approximate cost for one box is $75. Let's feed more families this year!!
- Back-to-School Bash: For 25 years & counting, we have served local children in need back-to-school shopping and provide them with a backpack with the school supplies they need to boost their confidence and start the year off strong. Children are chosen by their school’s guidance counselor to ensure that those who need it most benefit. We served 171 children this year - can you help us take 250 kids shopping next year?
- Community Partners: Funds raised from this campaign will also support our Community Partners, the Community Shelter and City Youth Services. These funds also support partnerships with other organizations whose mission aligns with ours, such as the local food bank, and many other organizations, through our community service. The projects and possibilities are endless for CharityEngine Foundation's future.... with your donation we could potentially refurbish the entire Community Shelter, start a diaper bank for young moms in the area, or even provide books for young children monthly through partnering with other local programs... Let's help these organizations serve more kids!
My personal goal is to raise
$1500 and every little bit helps! Will you join me to make a difference?
Thank you in advance for your support!
