Thanks for checking out my Flotilla fundraising story! I live on Holly Pond and Long Island Sound and am proud to paddle in the Flotilla and help SoundWaters protect the Sound by educating thousands of students every year--the Long Island Stewards of tomorrow!
Last summer, with your help, and in memory of my father of Robert Berkeley George (RBG), who loved and understood the impact of sailing on young children, I raised over $4,000 and established a Young Mariners Scholarship Fund. SoundWaters used this money to purchase a new Opti sailboat for their Middle School Young Mariners program. In addition, we funded three scholarships so more children could join the program and learn to sail!
On June 26, I had the honor of helping SoundWaters launch the new "RBG Cannon" with two Young Mariners aboard. It was a big step for those children and an emotional moment for me, especially since I saw how engaged and excited they were to be in the program and also to learn about how our donations helped. Because of you, it was also a great success!
So. . . let's do this again! I'm paddling on July 20th and hope to fund another boat and more scholarships. Access to the natural world can be life changing for a child. Please help me change lives!
